June 1548. Henry Heydon, gentleman or esquire, of Watford, Herts. and Lincoln's Inn, Middlesex, receiver of the king's lands late of St. Albans monastery.
Lincoln's Inn means he had studied law. Watford belonged to St Albans Abbey until about 1540, when Henry VIII took over all the monasteries. He and his son Edward VI sold off most of the property over the next ten years or so.
