  • Notes
    • Dorsy served in the War of 1812 with Captain Le Douxs Cavalry Company
      Louisiana Volunteers.
Census 1820 West Baton Rouge, LA, p. 82
Dorsey P. Swindler married Elizabeth Mills. the Couple had one child
Elizabeth. Dorsey Swindler entered into a second marriage to Elizabeth
"Puoponne" Mahiers, the daughter of Dr. Michel and Francoise
Segaillot. The second marriage produced six children: Joseph, Eugene,
      Pauline, Emmeline, Gilbert and Louis.
Dorsey and Elizabeth. He acquired a tract of land of some 240 arpents
in south West Baton Rouge, LA. At Dorsey's death on February 4, 1828
in West Baton Rouge, his estate came to $16,743.
It seems that Dorsey had married Elizabeth with out signing a prior
marrage contract, and that none was signed by the time Dorsey died.
Thus Elizabeth's brother Joseph said Elizabeth's personal property
should not have been in community. It was all setteled by a law suit
which granted Elizabeth the sums she had inherited.
